Glass

foto29747-1Only clean glass can provide good visibility. While ordinary dust can be dealt with with water, it will take some effort to deal with stubborn dirt.

How to remove mounting foam, silicone, candle wax, carbon deposits, water stone, sun foil, rust, plasticine and other contaminants from glass, read the article.

How do I clean the glass surface?

Consider various glass contamination and ways to eliminate them:

From polyurethane foam

The polyurethane foam is quickly and reliably fixed to the surface it hits. It cannot be removed from the glass with water or soapy water. You can cope with the task using a solvent.

Instructions for use:

  1. foto29747-2The paint thinner is applied to the fabric.
  2. With its help, stained areas are treated.
  3. Leave to soak the foam for 15-30 minutes. If the solvent dries up, repeat the treatment.
  4. Gently scrape off the softened foam with a plastic spatula.
  5. Wash the glass with soapy water and then clean water.

For processing, you can use any solvent:

  • acetone,
  • white spirit,
  • turpentine
  • solvent R-4, 646, 650,
  • xylene.

All of them are equally effective with regard to polyurethane foam.

How to remove silicone?

Silicone caught on the glass is difficult to clean, and after a short time it becomes covered with dust and turns yellow. To remove it without any residue, use kerosene or "Kalosha" gasoline.

Procedure:

  • moisten a cloth suitable for work with gasoline;
  • applying a cleaning solution to contaminated areas;
  • leave to soften the sealant for half an hour;
  • remove the composition with a wooden or plastic scraper;
  • wipe the area with a clean, damp cloth.
The main disadvantage of working with gasoline is the strong smell. Therefore, the windows must be open when cleaning.

Dried adhesive film

The dried adhesive film adheres firmly to the surface. It will take time to wipe it off and use two cleaning agents at once: vegetable oil and soap solution.

Procedure:

  1. foto29747-3Soak a cotton pad in vegetable oil.
  2. Wipe the contaminated area with it. The procedure is repeated until the film is completely removed. During operation, it will roll, so the disc will have to be replaced several times.
  3. Prepare a solution based on shavings from laundry soap. Wipe the treated glass with it.
  4. Rinse the surface with clean water, treat with a dry paper towel.

This method may seem time consuming, but in reality it does not take more than 10-15 minutes. Its main advantage is safety for the glass surface.

Water stone

The water stone spoils the appearance of the glass, making it cloudy and opaque. In no case should you try to clean it off with a stiff brush. It will not be possible to completely remove the stone in this way, but it will work to scratch the surface.

Instructions for effective and safe cleaning of glass from deposits:

  • dissolve 25 g of citric acid in 500 ml of warm water;
  • the finished solution is poured into a spray bottle and the glass is irrigated with it;
  • leave to act for an hour, as the product dries, the surface must be moistened;
  • an hour later the glass is washed and wiped with a dry cloth.
Citric acid reacts with deposits to completely dissolve them. If the stone is impressive, then the procedure is repeated several times. Instead of citric acid, you can use vinegar diluted with water in equal proportions.

Condensation in a glass unit

foto29747-4If condensation accumulates between the glasses in the glass unit, it will not work to remove it on your own. The reason for the appearance of moisture is a violation of the tightness of the structure.

This happens due to improper installation of the window, or through the fault of a manufacturing defect.

It will not be possible to cope with such a problem with improvised or special means, it is necessary to contact the company engaged in the sale and installation of a double-glazed window.

It will not work to disassemble and repair the structure on your own without special knowledge and tools.

Primer

After repair work, a dried primer often remains on the glass. While fresh stains can be easily dealt with with plain water, an effort will have to be made to remove old material.

Procedure:

  1. Dissolve dishwashing detergent in water and apply it to the dried spot.
  2. After 10 minutes, the primer is moistened with acetone. Leave for another 10 minutes.
  3. Using a sharp blade, the stains are gently removed.
  4. Wipe the glass with a clean, damp cloth.
Use the blade carefully so as not to leave scratches on the surface of the glass, into which dirt will clog in the future.

Cement from glass

Cured cement can be removed with acetic acid. It is harmful to concrete, but safe to glass.

foto29747-5Mode of application:

  • put on gloves;
  • moisten a sponge or rag in table vinegar;
  • apply it on the stain, leave for 30 minutes, the main thing is not to let the acid dry, for this you need to renew it periodically;
  • remove softened cement with a plastic scraper, wipe with a damp cloth.

To prevent the vinegar from evaporating quickly, the procedure must be carried out in cool weather, when direct sunlight does not fall on the window.

Foil from the sun

You can remove the foil from the sun from the glass using white spirit. Use it like this:

  1. Apply the composition to a cotton pad or clean soft cloth.
  2. The area where the foil is glued is processed.
  3. Leave for 15 minutes to reduce its adhesion to the surface.
  4. Remove with a non-metallic sharp object such as a wooden scraper.

If the solvent is not at hand, then you can use a soapy solution, but to completely remove the foil, you will have to make more effort, repeating the procedure at least 2 times.

A prerequisite for high-quality cleansing is the use of a high concentration solution. Only foam liquid should be applied to the surface. The holding time is half an hour.

Rust

You can remove rust from glass with Coca-Cola.This drink effectively dissolves dross.

Use it like this:

  • the drink is poured into a spray bottle;
  • spray it onto a glass surface;
  • leave for an hour;
  • wipe the treated area with a clean, damp cloth.

If necessary, repeat the procedure, increasing the exposure time. Fanta and Sprite have a similar effect. They contain an acid that oxidizes rust and effectively dissolves it.

Carbon and soot

Soot and carbon deposits are firmly deposited on glass surfaces. It is difficult to clean this film with classic detergents. To completely remove it, use ammonia and vinegar.

foto29747-6Mode of application:

  1. 1 teaspoon of ammonia and the same amount of vinegar are dissolved in 0.5 l of water.
  2. Treat the glass abundantly with a solution, wait 3 minutes.
  3. Remove the product with a paper towel.
  4. Rinse the area with clean water, wipe dry again.

Since ammonia has a strong odor, you need to work with it in a well-ventilated area. The floor is covered with newspapers or a rag so that the dripping liquid does not damage the coating.

Candle wax

The easiest and fastest way to remove wax from glass is to melt it with a hairdryer.... A stream of warm air is directed to the frozen spot, holding the device at a distance of 20-30 cm. When ready, you need to have a thick paper napkin with which the melted wax is removed.

The residues of the product are removed with a damp cloth. For heavy contamination, you can use soapy water.

The molten mass must not be washed down the drain pipe, as the wax will cause a blockage when it cools.

If the wax is frozen on a small object, such as a glass candlestick, it can be cooled by placing it in the freezer. The exposure time in the cold is 1 hour. After freezing, the wax is easily peeled off any sharp object.

Masking tape

If the masking tape is on the glass surface for a long time, it adheres firmly and makes it difficult to clean it off.

foto29747-7You can cope with the task in the following way:

  • a tablespoon of soda is dissolved in 250 ml of warm water;
  • a sponge is abundantly moistened in the resulting solution;
  • process the tape, leave for 10 minutes;
  • repeat the procedure;
  • brush off the remnants of the softened material with an old toothbrush.

If the tape is small, you can use a school eraser and blade. The top layer of adhesive tape is removed with the sharp side, and the sticky layer is rubbed with an elastic band.

Plasticine

You should not try to wash off the plasticine from the glass with water. It will only lead to its smearing on the surface. You can deal with sticky material with an alcohol-based liquid.

Procedure:

  1. Using a thick paper napkin, remove the main layer of plasticine.
  2. An alcohol-containing liquid (perfume or vodka) is applied to a cotton pad.
  3. Wipe the surface until it is clean. In the process, the disks will have to be changed several times.
  4. Wipe the glass with a clean, damp cloth.
If the bulk is frozen, you can melt it with a hairdryer. In this case, you need to ensure that the melted plasticine does not start flowing over the glass surface and does not stain other objects.

Tinting

foto29747-8You can remove the tint from the glass mechanically. To do this, use a regular blade..

They pry the edge of the film and pull it towards themselves. However, after such treatment, sticky marks will still remain on the glass.

You can get rid of the glue with the help of ammonia. It is applied to a cotton pad and small areas are targeted. The procedure is completed by washing the glass with soapy water. Details - in this article.

Limescale

Limescale reacts with acidsso you can use vinegar or citric acid to remove it. The product is dissolved in warm water and applied to glass for at least 40 minutes.

If the limescale layer is dense, the acid is used in combination with soda.First, the surface is sprinkled with powder, after which it is sprinkled with vinegar. When the reaction is complete, the solution is washed off with clean water. Will tell in more detail this article.

Misting from windows in a car

If the windows in your car fog up, they can be treated with a glycerin-based solution. It is diluted with alcohol in a ratio of 1:10. If glycerin is applied neat, the glass will become greasy and glare at night.

Another popular way of processing glass is to rub it with newspapers. Printing ink contains substances that form a film that prevents condensation from accumulating.

Details - in this publications.

Air from under the protective glass

foto29747-9The air accumulated under the protective glass of the smartphone is removed using a plastic card, with which the bubbles are adjusted to the edge.

If this method proved to be ineffective, the glass is raised and a line is drawn under it, together with which the air will come out.

To cope with the problem, you can use a silicone gel that is used to fill the existing cavities. Remove excess funds with a soft cloth.

During the procedure, you need to ensure that dust and dirt do not get under the glass. Read more in this material.

Water (moisture) from under the film on the phone screen

The most effective way to get rid of water trapped under the protective glass is to warm it up. For this purpose, use a hairdryer or a table lamp.... The main thing is to remove the battery before heat treatment.

If the bubbles are small, you can simply download any active game to your phone. 15-30 minutes of uninterrupted operation of the device is enough for the battery to heat up and the liquid to evaporate. Will tell in more detail this publication.

Conclusion

It is easy to clean the glass from dirt, even if they belong to the category of stubborn stains... The main thing is to use a suitable tool and follow the instructions. In the process of processing, one must not forget about safety measures, protecting the skin of the hands and respiratory organs.
